Born on the 20th of September 1945 in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1968. Fluent in Arabic, English and French.
Joined the Foreign Ministry in 1968. Occupied various diplomatic posts in Moscow and abroad - at the Embassies of the USSR/ Russia in Egypt (1970-1974) and Iraq (1980-1985, 1989-1994).
In 1994-1998 - chief of section, deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa Department, MFA RF.
In 1998-2002 - Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Yemen.
In 2002-2003 - Ambassador-at-large for Iraq and Gulf region issues.
In 2003- 2006 - Foreign Minister's special envoy for the Middle East peace process issues.
In March 2006 appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Has a rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Married with a son and a daughter.
